Okay, let’s start. Today’s theme is: “How to ask someone on a date.” Let me hear your technique.
When it comes to technique in asking someone out, you can leave it to me. But, I’d rather do it in Spanish because it’s kind of difficult to do in English.
Nice try, but that trick doesn’t work on me; we have an English only policy here. How about coming up with phrases for asking someone out to dinner, as it’s similar to asking someone on a date?
So, Shinji, what would you say when trying to ask someone out to dinner?
悪くないけど、この場合は、「Do you want to eat dinner with me?」じゃなくて「Would you like to have dinner with me?」 だね。「Do you want to eat dinner with me? That’s not bad, but it would have been better if you’d said: “Would you like to have dinner with me?” It sounds as if the whole purpose is eating if you say: “Do you want to eat dinner with me?” It doesn’t come across as thoughtful and kind, either.
